About Us

This photo was taken just as Pete and Stefanie prepared to drive their project home to Texas — a long, long 16+ hour drive! They were all smiles because after all the talking, digging it out from its home of permanence for 30+ years last fall (yes, in the middle of the pandemic), and two trips this spring to get the brakes working, and axle installed, they were FINALLY bringing it home.

A little about this dynamic duo. As you may have guessed, this is a photo of our daughter, Stefanie, and, my husband, Pete. Stefanie and Pete have been talking for a while about rebuilding this trailer that has been sitting on what used to be my mother-in-law’s property (now Pete’s) and shared as a true “nature’s getaway” with his siblings and their kids (all grown now!).

Stefanie is a fairly recent college graduate from the second best Maryland college (as her dad jokingly claims every time they talk about their respective alma maters), Johns Hopkins University. Yup, she followed her dad: a mechanical engineering major. Fortunately, when she graduated, she returned back to Texas and is currently working for a major NASA contractor as a design engineer. Her skills in CREO/Solidworks and any other CAD program will be instrumental in redesigning the interior. She was a CAD teaching assistant while at school so she will likely show her dad a thing or two while he teaches himself to make sure he can keep up! Stefanie has a creative side to her; she loves music, sewing, writing, drawing and more!

And Pete, well, for many years he has told both kids about our plans to park our RV in their front lawn when we visit them in the now, not so distant, future. It just may come true! Pete isn’t much of a handyman (i got in trouble for saying that. Truthfully, he honestly just doesn’t have the time. That and, well, he loves mountain biking and doing other outdoor activities more!), but he LOVES to solve problems. As mentioned, by education he too majored in mechanical engineering from (per Pete – but we know the real truth) THE BEST Maryland college: University of Maryland. That statement is something Pete says regularly just to joke around with his daughter. I suspect that his background in ME plus his years in the Navy as a nuclear submariner should come in handy as they begin this adventure. He currently works full time with a small oil & gas consulting organization that he has been with for almost 10+ years. Who knows, if this rebuild is a success, he may have found his retirement gig! I know there is value in finding something to keep you busy in retirement. That’s still a few years out though so in the meantime, both Pete and Stefanie will be doing this when time allows. Here’s hoping we don’t break the bank!

Recently both Pete and Stef have enrolled in engineering masters degree programs. Stef at Columbia University and Pete at Texas A&M. . . the friendly rivalry continues!

I do hope you follow us. I am looking forward to sharing their trials, tribulations, side stories and more!
